Sew mama sew giveaway day

It is that time of year again when the amazingly, fantastical, inspiring blog sew mama sew hosts a collection of great giveaways.

 This year we thought we would participate  when Fiona over at patchwork delights reminded us of it. It is a great way to promote ourselves.. but also to give away a great gift to one of our customers ....

Newbies

We have had a lovely selection of fabrics arrive in over the last couple of weeks ..

One of my favourites is this bundle by French Bull - ziggy - perfect for graphic lovers - choose 1 for a small project - or 2 for a fat quarter of each..

Next up ... I totally fell in love with this totally scrumptious collection by the fab westfalenstoffe ...LINZ ... boys would love this as a shirt ... or trousers.. or both...

 

We have also had our twice yearly delivery of Kokka and Echino and we have had some lovely treats arrive 

Both of these telephone prints are from Melody Millers Ruby Sparkle collection -I adore them ...

For the more subdued we have had a delivery of the Pippa collection by Ana Davis

Mirror project

I found this mirror on the side of the road within an old farm shop  a couple of month back.. it was cute - but kind of falling to pieces - there were a couple of bits and pieces hanging off... and after a quick check for wood worm - I thought  'thank you very much - I'll have that please' for a grand total of £7.00. 

I knew that if I fell out of love for it - I knew someone who would fall very quickly in love with it. I had being looking for a little project to try  out some of this.. Annie Sloan paint... 

 I had heard mixed reviews about it - but the though of not having to sand or prime what I was going to paint - was just too much of a temptation to let pass.. so I found a little shop in Reigate that stocked it .. and for the grande total of £24.00 I got a tin of paint and a tin of wax .

 I opted for the the colour Versailles- I thought if it all goes horribly wrong -I can just paint over it again .

And to be honest it was really simple - 2 coats of paint - straight on there .. and one coat of wax - brushed that on quickly and then buffed it up .. total time 1.5 hours .. and to be honest I think I am quite happy with the results ..

The colours are very true and the chalky feel is lovely .. I think probably next time - I will venture more into the distressed look and get myself a darker wax for an older feel .. Have any of you out there tries this Annie Sloan Paint ?...

Ps - sorry for the close up shots .. but I know that there are piles of washing and all kinds of things lurking in all corners of this room ...
