Introducing Lawn Cottons

Mmmm Lawn Cottons - such a great versatile weighted fabric, scarves, shirts, skirts, duvets, quilt tops .. light, soft and floaty. 

Lawn: Plain weave sheer fabric, originally of linen, but now also describes cotton fabrics. Lawn is made from very fine (thin) high thread count carded (prepared with a brush) yarns. Lawn is always made with an even weave using even yarns to produce a smooth, untextured surface. A crisp finish is frequently applied to lawn fabrics, and occasionally to other fabrics, which are then said to have a ‘lawn finish’. Comes from Laon in France, which used to be a major producer of linen lawn.

Dashwood Studios Wildwood has just landed ...

I love that there is a UK based fabric printing company rocking great British designers and illustrators … The designs are fresh and  more importantly .. made right HERE … 
The latest collection Wildwood has being beautifully illustrated by Bethan Janine  her designs are amazeballs… Bethan Janine loves to draw, combining delicate line work and bold colours to create her patterns. She is inspired by nature and all things flora and fauna, her collection ‘Wildwood’ was influenced by her surroundings of leafy Yorkshire, taking woodland walks and gathering leaves to draw in her sketch book.

We have the whole collection in stock .. and of course have made a great little small project mini stack up also .. just to give you a sampler

Dashwood studios have  recruited some great British  makers  to rustle up some inspirational creations ..

Happy New Year.. (if not a little late)

I know I am a little late with this - but happy New year to you all .. Christmas and New Year is a busy time for us as we normally travel to Ireland to be with my family.. so by the time we had 'closed' the shop … sorted orders.. sorted ourselves.. and sorted the builder who is rebuilding our kitchen.. it was time to come back and open the shop …cut the orders,  re-jig ourselves … work around the builder and organise the winter sale .. and it is already way into January … we hope to bring you lots of new and exciting products .. we plan on venturing more into patterns and hopefully sourcing some more exciting prints.  I was saddened to have  noticed a few small beautiful little fabric shops closing their virtual doors over the Christmas season - so a BIG " thank you to all our customers who have supported us over the past years"… we thank you… X  ps it is only me…..g

Holidays are coming

I love this week before Christmas, I finish my 'proper' job a little earlier than everybody else .. so it gives me a chance to really enjoy the week before Christmas.. I have to admit I have snuck in the odd Christmas matinee on TV .. and I have also caught up on adding some yummy new fabrics to the site..
